Wildland repeats with 2009 National Geographic recognition of World’s best travel companies!
In November 28, 2007 the Adventure Travel Issue of National Geographic Adventure Magazine (November 2007) listed Newfoundland and Labrador’s own Wildland Tours for 2008 in their categorization of the “Best Outfitters on Earth”. The world’s most famous journal of exploration also listed the Wildland Tours 2008 Polar Bear Expedition to Northern Labrador as one of the 25 best new trips in the world. According to company president Dave Snow, the National Geographic assessment was thorough and intense. “They surveyed all of the participants on one of our Newfoundland Adventure week-long tours. They asked our guests about this vacation program’s educational value, ethic of sustainability, quality of service, and the overall client experience. National Geographic compared us to the planet’s leading expedition and travel companies; and based on the level of guest satisfaction they decided we were one of the planet’s best adventure travel companies. It is quite an honour for us but I think it also speaks to the amazing natural wonders of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is great to see that the world’s leading travel society considers our province to be one of the Earth’s best travel destinations. And for our part we have been delighted to act as Newfoundland and Labrador hosts for 25 years.” The magazine listed Wildland Tours twice (Best Outfitter on Earth category and 25 Best New Trips of 2008 category) but provided more details on their website. The company was recognized under five separate categories: Nature and Wildlife, Adventure Cruises, Cultural Encounters, Exploratory Trips, and “Voluntourism”. In addition, the company’s Southern Labrador Adventure Expedition was listed as a Signature Trip. Says Snow, “The Southern Labrador Adventure features northern Newfoundland and the historic community of Battle Harbour, Labrador; and gives guests the chance to pioneer research into a little known group of orcas. For whale enthusiasts, there is no bigger adventure and every year we have guests from previous years repeat the experience.”
2009 Update:  After a detailed survey of one of our Viking Trail Experience tours from 2008 we were recognized again in 2009 as one of the “Best Outfitters on Earth”.
