The Newfoundland Adventure highlights many of the natural and cultural wonders of eastern Newfoundland. While we can never promise whales, our selected dates include the prime whale watching season (100% viewing success). Most years we see the largest numbers and varieties of whales between late June and early August. Seabirds are prolific until mid to late July; later in the season you should still see murres, Atlantic puffins, Razor-billed auks, Northern gannets, Bald eagles, and many other species of wildlife, such as moose, fox, Snowshoe hare, and the chance of migrating caribou.
The number of icebergs around Newfoundland’s shores can vary from year to year but for the most part, you will certainly not be disappointed! In a good year (of which we have many) they can be seen towering high into the sky! Often you will see and hear them ‘calving’… rolling over and splitting apart. Considering we only see 1/10th of them cresting above the water’s surface, can you imagine how gigantic they truly are! Be prepared to enjoy incredible museums, colourful lighthouses, some of the best coastal hiking trails in the world, seasonal wildflowers, early songbirds, distinct flavours, and local folks. Although you will find our local hotels warm and welcoming, our guests say that the genuine hospitality of the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians they meet along the way is a highlight of their holiday.
